Privacy Policy

GeoSurf is built to work fully offline. You can play every game without creating an account or connecting to the internet. This policy explains the limited data we handle when your device is online — the optional online features (leaderboards, the daily challenge, and reminder notifications) and the basic, privacy-friendly analytics we use to understand how the app is used.

Play offline, share nothing

While your device is offline, GeoSurf transmits nothing at all — your progress, learning memory and settings stay on your device. Data only leaves your device when you are connected to the internet.

What we collect when you go online

When you open a leaderboard, play the daily challenge, or enable reminders, GeoSurf creates an anonymous account identified by a random ID — it is not linked to your name, email or device identifiers. We then store the optional username you choose (shown publicly on leaderboards), your gameplay stats (scores, XP, streaks and accuracy totals), and — only if you enable reminders — a push notification token.

Analytics

To understand how GeoSurf is used and to improve it, we collect basic, privacy-friendly product analytics through OpenPanel. This covers things like which screens and game modes are opened, your app version and device type, and an approximate country derived from your IP address (the IP address itself is not retained as location). Analytics events are tied to your anonymous account ID — never to your name or email. We use this only to improve the app; we do not use it for advertising and we never sell it.

What we never collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location. GeoSurf contains no ads and no advertising trackers, and we never use your data to target ads or sell it to anyone.

How we use it

Your data is used only to operate the features you use: ranking entries on leaderboards, running the shared daily challenge, and sending the reminder notifications you opted into.

Where it's stored and who can see it

Data is stored on our own server. The username and scores you submit are visible to other players on public leaderboards. We never sell your data. We share it only with the infrastructure needed to deliver the service — OpenPanel for product analytics, Apple, Google and Expo push services to send notifications — and with Apple or Google for in-app purchases.

In-app purchases

GeoSurf Pro is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Your choices and rights

You can play entirely offline at any time (which stops all data leaving your device), turn reminders off in Settings, and permanently delete your account and all associated server data from Settings → Account → Delete account. To object to analytics processing specifically, email us at the address below.

Children

GeoSurf is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The anonymous account ID is random and is not personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
